Anxiety Treatment

Anxiety can be a debilitating condition that greatly affects a person’s ability to function in a variety of settings. Northwest Biofeedback Center offers effective, drug-free anxiety treatment using biofeedback therapy. When a patient schedules a biofeedback appointment, expert therapists will use advanced, painless techniques to train the brain to slow down so it can function at its optimum level.

What is Anxiety?

Anxiety, of course, makes a person feel stressed and worried about everyday activities – many of which are typically not all that important. This can cause a serious disruption at work, school and in several other aspects of life. While anyone can develop an anxiety order at any age, it typically begins during childhood or the teenage years. Many people with this problem also suffer from other issues as well, such as depression, panic disorder or obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Causes of Anxiety

A physical illness such as hyperthyroidism can contribute to an anxiety disorder, as can certain medicines such as Ritalin. Consuming too much caffeine can also play a role in anxiety, as can using cocaine and other illegal drugs. Heredity can also be a factor. However, no one knows for sure what causes the disorder.

Symptoms of Anxiety

A person may need anxiety treatment if he or she tends to excessively worry about things such as health, work, family issues or money. Children with the disorder tend to stress over school or sports activities.

However, a person may experience physical symptoms as well. For example, it could be difficult to concentrate or he or she may feel irritable or tired on a regular basis. Muscle aches or headaches could appear, and a sufferer may have a hard time swallowing. Many people with the disorder have to use the bathroom more often than usual, or feel out of breath, lightheaded or sick to their stomach. They may also become easily startled and have problems either falling asleep or staying asleep.

Treatments for Anxiety

We offer neurofeedback anxiety treatment to help regulate brain activity. Once the brain becomes accustomed to therapy, it begins to function more normally. Eventually, systems will progressively disappear. Dr. Joseph N. O’Donnell & Associaties has helped many people who have been frustrated due to a lack of success with other methods.
